the mitten and the snowy day. . .

We made puffy snowmen to decorate the hallway.  We mixed glue and shaving cream to use as our paint.

 

We made cute snowboys/snowgirls to decorate the hallway, after reading Snowmen at Night. 

 

We explored with vinegar and baking soda. . .

 

We ended our winter theme by reading 2 favorite winter stories, The Mitten, by Jan Brett, and The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats.  We laced up some mittens to use as a retelling tool.  the children then put all the animals into the mitten, the ones that decided to crawl into the mitten that Nicki lost. (from the story, the Mitten)

 

 

After we read, the Snowy Day, we made pictures of Peter climbing the mountains of snow.
