fun in the winter

Where has January gone?  We have had so much fun and have been so busy!  These last 2 weeks of school have really flown by.

During hibernation week, we talked about how animals hibernate in the winter.  We read the book Hibernation Station, and sang one of the class favorites, The Cool Bear Hunt.  We also made a bear cave.

ice fishing was a very popular activity during our winter theme. . .
We visited the Springbrook Nature Center on our last field trip.  We were able to go outside and feed the animals.  We later watched from inside to see if any animals came to eat the food.  We saw some whitetail deer peeking at us, waiting for us to go inside. . .

we also read a book about bears while there, and got to see alot of cool animals. . .

like a snapping turtle, named Tank. . .
and a snake, the children learned quickly that Mrs. Libby does NOT like snakes.  I watched from the back of the room!
